Living Room Groups

Connecting, supporting each other and taking action

What is a Living Room Group?

Finding Common Ground starts with simple, real conversations — neighbors gathering in living rooms, kitchens, or community spaces to listen, learn, and build relationships.

Each small group brings together fewer than ten people who care about their town and want to find ways to work together again. These aren’t debates or political meetings. They’re about curiosity, respect, and shared purpose.

What Happens?

  • Meet locally: in someone’s home, a coffee shop, or a church hall.

  • Meet regularly: once or twice a month, for about an hour or two.

  • Share openly: each person tells their story and listens to others.

  • Find common ground: identify shared concerns — like local schools, hospitals, farms, or jobs.

  • Act locally: groups may host community socials, talk with local leaders, or just keep the conversation going.

Meet every few weeks. Stay in touch between gatherings. Groups can eventually connect with others nearby.

Finding common ground Initiative can provide training and support as Living Room Groups get started. We host a weekly Zoom call for Hosts to share, learn and network.
