1.   Engage with Community Leaders  

• Reach out regularly. Calls and emails matter—community leaders pay attention to both.

• Ask for leadership grounded in shared values. Encourage elected officials to act based on the common beliefs we all share.

• Be specific. When you contact them, name the issue and the action you’d like them to take.

• Stay connected. Join or form a local group to support one another and coordinate community action.

2. Practice Real Conversations

Building understanding starts one conversation at a time:

• Connect. Reach out to people in your community.

• Listen. Try to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

• Be curious. Ask why they believe what they do, and listen without judgment.

• Share your story. Personal experiences build empathy and trust.

• Find common ground. Look for the values and goals you both care about.

3. Encourage Faith Leaders

• Invite leadership toward unity. Whatever your faith, ask your leaders to speak and act in ways that bring people together.

• Build bridges. Reach out to people of other faiths and nurture relationships across differences.

• Promote accountability. Expect leaders to model respect, cooperation, and care for the whole community.
